Tub out. Walk-in shower in.

The most common call we get: the tub nobody uses, in a bathroom everybody uses. We take it out, build a waterproofed tiled shower in its place, and finish with frameless glass.

What is included

Everything, not just the tile.

Walk-in with a low curb, or fully curbless for easy access. Most conversions take about a week [CONFIRM].

  • Remove tub and surround, dispose
  • Check plumbing and move the drain if needed
  • Waterproofing membrane, sloped base, linear or centre drain
  • Wall and floor tile with niche and optional bench
  • 10 mm frameless glass panel or door
  • Fixtures: rain head, hand shower, valve
The work you never see

What is behind the tile decides how long it lasts.

Every bidder shows you tile samples. Ask them about this list. We photograph each of these steps before it is covered and send the photos to your phone.

  1. 01

    Down to the studs

The tub, surround and any damp drywall come out. If the subfloor is soft we show you before we fix it.

  2. 02

    The base and the drain

A sloped mortar base or a pre-formed foam tray, bonded to a linear or centre drain. The drain moves if the design needs it.

  3. 03

The membrane and the flood test

Waterproofing membrane [CONFIRM system] over floor and walls with sealed corners. Drain plugged, pan filled, left [CONFIRM duration]. Photo to your phone.

  4. 04

    Tile, then glass

Walls and floor tiled flat, niche built in. Glass is measured after grout so the panel fits the real room, not the drawing.

Popular options

Where most people start.

01

Curbless

No step, linear drain. Best for aging in place and for small rooms.

02

Low curb

A 4-inch curb keeps water in with a simpler build.

03

Keep the tub, new tile

If you want to keep a tub, we re-tile the surround and replace the glass.

How it works

Four steps. No surprises.

  1. 01

    Book the visit

About a minute online, or one phone call. Sasha arrives with tile samples, measures the room and talks through layout, fixtures and budget.

  2. 02

    Written quote

Scope, materials and timeline on paper, within 48 hours [CONFIRM]. The number you sign is the number you pay, unless you change the plan.

  3. 03

    The work

One crew from demolition to glass. Plumbing checked before anything is covered. Floors protected, dust contained, tools packed up every evening. Photos of each stage to your phone.

  4. 04

    Walkthrough

We go through the room together, fix anything you point at, and leave you care notes for grout, stone and glass.

“I would like to add my recommendation of PS Tiling. As you might guess, I have seen a lot of good and bad over the years. We have a very short list of contractors we recommend to customers as we feel it is our reputation on the line when we do. Sasha and Sasha are on our list.”

FAQ

Questions we get asked

How much is a tub-to-shower conversion?

Typically $[CONFIRM] to $[CONFIRM] depending on tile, glass and whether the drain moves. Free in-home estimate, written quote within 48 hours [CONFIRM].

How long does it take?

About a week on site for most conversions [CONFIRM], longer if the drain moves or the subfloor needs work.

Will removing the tub hurt resale?

Keep at least one tub in the house if you can. In a second or third bathroom a good shower adds value; buyers care about dry, modern and clean.

Why are the quotes I am getting so different?

Because some conversions are a prefabricated acrylic insert glued over the old wall, and some are a waterproofed, tiled shower built from the studs. Ours is the second kind. Ask each bidder what is behind the tile and whether the base is flood tested.
